I.JOB PURPOSE:
The Design Engineer (MVAC) is responsible for preparing detailed designs, calculations, and drawings for mechanical ventilation and air-conditioning systems. The role ensures system efficiency, safety, and compliance with international standards, project specifications, and local codes while supporting senior engineers and project managers throughout the project lifecycle.
II.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Design & Technical Works
- Perform HVAC load calculations using HAP or equivalent software.
- Prepare schematic diagrams, layouts, and detailed drawings for HVAC/MVAC systems (chilled water, VRF/VRV, DX systems, ventilation, and exhaust).
- Size ducts, pipes, and equipment based on project requirements.
- Assist in equipment selection and preparation of technical datasheets.
- Ensure designs comply with ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, and local building codes.
2.Documentation & Submittals
- Prepare design drawings, BOQs (Bill of Quantities), and technical specifications.
- Assist in reviewing shop drawings and material submittals for compliance.
- Support the preparation of tender documents and cost estimates.
3.Coordination
- Coordinate design inputs with architects, structural engineers, electrical, and plumbing teams.
- Participate in design review meetings with consultants, clients, and project teams.
- Provide technical clarifications for RFIs raised during construction.
4.Support & Quality
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of design deliverables.
- Maintain proper documentation of calculations, drawings, and revisions.
- Support senior engineers in implementing energy-efficient and sustainable design practices
III.SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 2– 4 years of experience in HVAC/MVAC system design within MEP projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP/Carrier E20, or similar design tools.
- Good knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, and local regulations.
- Strong technical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a team and meet project deadlines.
